Cape St. Vincent

Cape St. Vincent is next to the Sagres Point on the Vincentine Coast of southern Portugal. Cape St. Vincent was considered sacred grounds in the Neolithic era. Ancient Greeks called it the Land of Serpents and dedicated a temple to Heracles. The Romans called it their Holy Promontory. Cape St. Vincent was a magical place where the sunset appeared larger. The cape was named after Iberian deacon St. Vincent who had a shrine built over his grave.

Cape St. Vincent is known for the destination point of famous naval battles. Visitors can explore the 16th century lighthouse that’s been guiding and guarding ships, and dive beneath the dark ocean to discover sunken ships.
